Editing, Copy Editing and Proofreading Fees

Fees pricing editing copyediting proofreadingI always suggest working with you on a sample section, usually around 3,000 words (with confidentiality assured), before we agree on a price for the entire contract. This helps to ensure that we are on the same page when it comes to exactly what services you require. You may think you require a proofreader, but in reality you may be expecting the skills of a substantive editor. In addition, the quality of the material you provide can impact on the time required to complete your job.

As a guide, typical editing speeds are 2,000 words per hour for documents that require a reasonable amount of work and 6,000 words per hour for documents requiring very minor copy editing and proofreading.

My pricing structure is based on the size of your project and your expected turnaround time, rather than quoting on an hourly rate. Working on a fixed price basis means you are always aware of the costs involved.
